AS9100 Rev C suggests that you use Problem Solving Skills to improve your quality.

Specifically:

AS9100 Rev C section 8.1 states: ...techniques can be used to support

• design verification (e.g., reliability, maintainability, safety)
• process control
• selection and inspection of key characteristics
• process capability measurements
• statistical process control
• design of experiment
• inspection, and
• failure mode, effect and criticality analysis.

Section 8.5.3 (NOTE) says: Examples of preventive action opportunities include:

• risk management
• error proofing
• failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)
• and information on product problems reported by external sources
